01 / ABOUT THE PLACE
About this place
A little way from Asakusa’s lively streets, a quiet dining space offers a striking contrast to the exterior. At 茶室ニゴウ, the evening centres on Japanese cuisine served as a course that brings together dashi sukiyaki and sushi. The sequence begins with a soup infused with the savoury flavours of seafood and vegetables, followed by nourishing dobinnmushi and carefully prepared nigiri sushi. Each course gently sharpens the palate.
For the main course, Wagyu beef is prepared in several ways to bring out its savoury richness: grilled with soy sauce, grilled with egg sauce, or simmered in dashi. There is room to choose the preparation to suit your preferences, and the meal draws to a close with udon or matcha ice cream, leaving you comfortably full.
Pairings and the tea-room setting
Natural wines in red, white and orange styles, craft beer and carefully selected Japanese organic sake are among the drinks that complement the food. For a day when you are avoiding alcohol, craft cola and non-alcoholic beer are also available options. The counter makes a welcoming spot to linger over a drink, while a small room upstairs offers a more private, tea-room-like feel. Take off your shoes to enter; from the room, you can see a small garden and views through the window.
The restaurant is closed on Mondays. From Tuesday to Sunday, it is open from 17:30 to 21:30, and reservations are required. Warm hospitality accompanies an evening of conversation with someone close, or a quiet moment to deepen the memories of a trip.
